We Are CA: 25 Years Beyond Prop 187

Join us on Saturday, November 9th at 10 am at the Los Angeles State Historic Park for a day of action as we reflect on the 25th anniversary of Prop 187 and our path forward.

25 years ago, our state was engaged in a fierce debate about who deserved to be a Californian. Proposition 187, the hateful 1994 ballot initiative that sought to ban undocumented immigrants from schools and hospitals and ban their access to public assistance served as a catalyst for a new generation of activists. They led the way in creating the nation’s most inclusive set of policies for immigrant workers and families.

The nation is now consumed with a Proposition 187 debate of its own, fueled by political hostility toward immigrants. The upcoming 25th anniversary of the passage of Prop 187 reminds us that even California, one of the most diverse states in the nation, has found the strength to overcome hate and scapegoating.

Rally will feature California elected leaders, special performances, food trucks and more!
